BMANA

BANGLADESH MEDICAL ASSOCIATION
OF NORTH AMERICA (BMANA)

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the BMANA. I am so glad to communicate through this newly designed BMANA website. It’s been a long time coming and it was only possible through the spirited teamwork of our executive committee.

BMANA is a professional organization of Bangladeshi-descent physicians in the USA. We are a group of professionals and we aim to promote fraternity and philanthropy with integrity. Since its inception in 1981, BMANA has pioneered many philanthropic activities including promotion of education in the States and abroad as well as facilitating technology transfer and capacity building outside the United States.

We have been given the opportunity to lead the continuation of these efforts as a result of a challenging but democratic election in 2017. In this era of changing healthcare and a changing world, we must remain united and conscientiously expand our organization. Currently we are faced with an evolving healthcare system, ACO, visa restrictions, and a decline in numbers of foreign medical graduates in the USA. I have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the presidents of AAPI USA and AAPNA committing our organizations to collectively developing an action plan to address these challenges. in the coming weeks we will meet with legislators in Washington DC. We expect many exciting things to come of this collaboration.

BMANA has been very successful so far. To further strengthen the organization, we need to be bigger. I am urging all Bangladeshi physicians to become active members of the organization and to take advantage of the current reduced rate to become lifetime members. Please remember to register on the new website as member of BMANA and use this new resource to stay updated on all events and BMANA news. I am looking forward to seeing you all in New Orleans on July 26, 2018 for our annual convention.

Best regards,
Riaz Chowdhury, M.D.
President, BMANA
